OUR GOAL: UPHOLD THE MISSION 

AS A TEAM OF VOLUNTEERS, AND AMBASSADORS, WE LOOK TO THE MISSION OF THE SCHOOL TO GUIDE OUR DECISIONS, CONSIDER IMPACT, AND SEEK OUT COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS TO CREATE A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE FOR THE SCHOOL.

MEETINGS OCCUR ON THE FOURTH THURSDAY OF THE MONTH, 5:30 p.m. 
CHAIN EXPLORATION CENTER COMMUNITY ROOM.

THE GOVERNANCE COUNCIL HOSTS A MINIMUM OF 10REGULAR MEETINGS A YEAR, SPECIAL MEETINGS AS NEEDED, AND AN ANNUAL MEETING IN JUNE.  PUBLIC COMMENT IS AVAILABLE AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH MEETING.  AGENDAS AND MINUTES ARE POSTED 72 HOURS IN ADVANCE.

HOW TO JOIN THE GOVERNANCE COUNCIL

NEXT STEPS

  • Start attending regular meetings and at least one sub-committee meeting monthly.

  • Fill out our application below.

  • Applications are reviewed quarterly by the Governance Council.

  • A brief interview will be conducted in closed session immediately following the regular monthly board meeting.  If accepted, the term starts at the beginning of the next regularly scheduled meeting.

  • Unfortunately, the Federal Grant Award does not allow us to include employees of the School District of Waupaca on our board.

GOVERNANCE COUNCIL MEMBER EXPECTATIONS

GOVERNANCE COUNCIL MEMBERS AGREE T0:

  • Attend at least 10 of the 12 regular meetings, which are approximately two hours in length.

  • Attend ad hoc meetings when called and necessary.

  • Sit on an active committee, which meet once a month at a set time and location

  • Sit on active task groups and attend meetings regularly until task is complete.

  • Participate in the annual retreat and self evaluation and goal setting session.

  • Tour and visit classrooms at least one time a year.

  • Attend CEC events.

  • Be a knowledgeable advocate of the CEC.

  • Prepare in advance for decision-making and policy formation at Governance Council meetings and take responsibility for self-education on the major issues before the Governance Council.

  • Utilize personal and professional skills, relationships, and knowledge for the advancement of the school.

  • Provide leadership at committee meetings

  • Review and act upon committee recommendations brought to the Governance Council

  • Always focus on the original mission and vision of the CEC with excitement and passion

  • Commit time to developing financial and other resources for the CEC

  • Monitor, self-educate, and utilize an understanding of the financial well-being of the organization with a focus on sustainability
