EcoSchool was a Summer School course taught by Catherine Seifert and Lori Wolff. Students in grades K-8 used the CEC campus for an outdoor classroom.
The Chain Community Garden provided an opportunity for K-3 to plant flowers, onions, pumpkins, squash, and watermelon. They learned about seed packets, companion plants and composting. The strawberry patch provided them with strawberry shortcake!
Students in grades 4-8, created a sunflower hut and bean palace. experimental methods were used to plant garlic scapes and made tomato basil soup. Both groups helped to cultivate and water the garden.
